Visitors to Gee's Bend will find stunning natural beauty and rich culture, but, like any rural area, there are a few things to consider when planning your trip.
Location: Grocery stores and the nearest hospital are about 45-60 minutes away, and there are no local restaurants, so bring essentials and plan to prepare your own meals.
Water: The area has treated running water suitable for cooking, bathing, and cleaning, but many homes lack septic systems, so be mindful of water usage. Bring bottled water for drinking if preferred.
Cell Phone Service: Service can be spotty, so download maps ahead of time.
Ferry: The ferry to Camden may occasionally close due to weather or maintenance, so check the Gee’s Bend Ferry Facebook page for updates.
Fuel: The nearest gas stations are a drive away, so keep your vehicle fueled.
